Community events work better with media exposure. From local, to regional, to national and international media exposure, anything is possible with the right media-friendly content for your event published and promoted through your new Lookatmedia™ centre.

Local media

Local media allows you to reach all of your local community and update them on upcoming events. Whether it’s a local TV, radio, print or online, many local media sources provide space for calendars of coming local attractions. Given the proper storylines and video and images, local media could give your event much greater exposure.

Regional media

Whether it's city, county, territory or state, regional media requires context related to their licenced or operational area. By creating media-friendly content for your region, then publishing and promoting it to the media on your Lookatmedia™ centre, you increase the potential of growing event participation outside your local community. Once one media group picks up on your event, you also increase the likelihood that others will follow.

National media

Your community event may not be front page or breaking news; however, more niche media groups may find your event appealing if you provide the proper storylines and resources. Whether it’s a lifestyle show, a fashion magazine, a national talkback radio station, a high-profile social influencer, they are all looking to write about something fun. With the right pitch and multiple alternative storylines, your community event might be just what they need.

International media

If you don’t think your community event warrants international media exposure, think of La Tomatina, the annual Spanish tomato-throwing festival. Each year this festival garners media attention all over the world. From travel and lifestyle to fashion and events national and international news services, a small municipality with just over 9,000 residents captures worldwide attention. Create the types of compelling imagery and storylines that have the potential of grabbing worldwide attention, and your community event could reach the same dizzying heights.

Put those images and videos to good use

Use the images and video from past events to promote coming events. Make journalists, media representatives aware that they have access to all of the images and videos you’ve used in your stories and many more. Create content that translates into media content across multiple channels.

Focus on the details

If your community event has something unique to this event, create an entire storyline around that feature. If you have celebrity involvement, build a backstory. If your event is designed to raise awareness of an issue, help an individual or a group, provide content with a more in-depth profile of the event's goals. If your event features something never before seen or rare, that is a story within itself. Lookatmedia™ provides you with space where you can try multiple storylines and see what captures the attention of journalists, media groups and influencers.

For the love of listicles

For many forms of media, listicles are now a 'thing'. They're a powerful way of capturing the attention of viewers who scan media sources looking for something fun to do. Listicles are a great way of getting more exposure for your media event and driving deeper enquiries. To make your way on to listicles, think like the media. What types of listicles would include your community event? Is it seasonal (e.g., things to do this spring)? Is it time-based (e.g., something to do this weekend)? Is it location-based or theme-based (e.g., Things to do in Armadale, for Italian food lovers)? Create storylines for listicles or create your listicles and promote them to many media sources through your new Lookatmedia™ centre.

One media centre for many events

Your Lookatmedia™ centre provides an opportunity for you to make all of your community events more successful. Demonstrate your support for your local events by creating media-friendly and newsworthy content for all of your community events on your new media centre and make it available for media consumption. Track which journalists, media representatives and influencers have downloaded and used your content. Create multiple storylines and illustrate them with compelling images and videos. Make your media centre the first call for journalists looking for local or interesting content on community events with Lookatmedia™.
